By Since March 2020, microbiology staff at Scunthorpe hospital, along with help from other Path Links labs in Grimsby, Boston, Lincoln and Grantham.
The microbiology teams have tested more than 325,000 COVID samples from across Lincolnshire and further afield!
A spokesperson for NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group said ‘the teams are still working 24/7, they have worked tirelessly to help tackle the virus and keep people safe.
‘Thankfully, the number of positive patients in our hospitals is now very low. But, for the microbiology staff, work is as busy as ever!
‘For every patient coming through the door, via A&E or for a procedure, multiple COVID samples need testing.
‘At the peak of the pandemic, the team was testing around 1.2k samples each day. Currently, the team continue to test anywhere between 850-1k samples a day!’
