Excitement as “dinosaurs” spotted across North East Lincolnshire’s parks

There’s been excitement from children and adults alike amid the sighting of “dinosaurs” in several parks across North East Lincolnshire.

These “sightings” come as a result of the new virtual trails created by the council, in a bid to encourage children to get out and about with their parents as the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions are eased.

Through the Love Exploring app, people can spot the dinosaurs – from Triceratops and Pterodactyls to T-Rex and Ankylosaurus – wandering around the Central Prom and Boating Lake in Cleethorpes and People’s Park and Weelsby Woods in Grimsby.

The augmented reality dinos can also be spotted in Homestead Park in Immingham.

Once users of the app have found the dinosaurs, they can take a selfie with them and answer questions in an exciting online quiz.

Cllr Callum Procter, Cabinet member for tourism, said: “This is a great way for families, young and old, to get out and about and visit some of our lovely parks and open spaces. We’re also shortly going to be re-launching new physical routes to complement this new initiative.”

More trails and quizzes are set to be launched through the app in the next year.

To download the app, simply head to the Google Play store or Apple store on your smartphone and search for ‘Love Exploring’.
