Man in custody after discovery of ‘large cannabis grow’
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis following the search of a premises on Freeman Street, Grimsby.
Officers were called to the scene after a resident reported a ‘suspicious smell’ coming from the property.
They were accompanied by Scenes of Crime officers and the National Grid.
Around 600 cannabis plants at varying stages of growth were discovered by officers yesterday evening at around 8:20pm.
Speaking this afternoon, a spokesperson for Humberside Police said:
“A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis following the search of a premises on Freeman Street, Grimsby yesterday afternoon (Thursday 13 May).
“We had received a report of a suspicious smell coming from the property.
“Upon searching, approximately 600 cannabis plants where discovered at varying stages of growth.”
A guard is also at the scene while the investigation continues.
Elsewhere, a 58-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity in Scunthorpe.
