Two killed in A165 collision

A man and a women have sadly died following a tragic incident on the A165 near Hull, Humberside Police have confirmed.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident which happened on Friday 7 May at around 3:30pm.

The situation was confirmed by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, who issued the following tweet at around 5.30pm:

“Crews from Bridlington are returning from an RTC on the A165 north of Bridlington at the Gindale crossroads.

“Expect traffic disruption along that stretch of the A165 for some time. #RedWatch”

Both casualties were in their 30s.

The female driver of the second vehicle is also said to have sustained serious injuries.

A child was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw either vehicle prior to the collision.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said:

“On Friday, 7 May, 2021, at 3.30pm officers were called to a collision between a black Mercedes GLA and a red Peugeot 2008 on the A165 at the junction of the Grindale Road.

“The driver and passenger of the Peugeot, a man and a woman in their 30s, sadly sustained fatal injuries in the collision and died at the scene.

“A child travelling in the car was taken to hospital as a precaution but was not injured.

“The families of the deceased are being supported by specially trained officers and our deepest sympathies are with them at this extremely sad time.

“The female driver, and sole occupant, of the Mercedes sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, where she remains in a serious condition.”
