College offers extra year to disrupted Grimsby students
From September, students at Franklin Sixth Form College in Grimsby will be able to take advantage of an additional year of study, allowing them to resit exams.
Students across the world have had their educations disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, many are being offered measures such as an extra year in education to help them catch up on learning.
The move is aimed at helping students who may have been forced to study from home to “maximise their academic potential”, according to one local college.
A statement released by the college said:
The decision will mean students who need to retake their GCSE in English or Maths can do so alongside a level two course in their first year.
They would then go on to study for another two years, with students being able to progress to go to university or other higher level education including apprenticeships.
The college is also offering a number of new courses, including BTEC Travel and Tourism, and BTEC Public Services.
