Montel Gibson issues apology after Covid breach
Grimsby Town player Montel Gibson has issued an apology via the club’s website, after a serious breach of lockdown restrictions.
Gibson held a ‘gender reveal party’ over the weekend, and subsequently posted videos of numerous people gathered for the event on social media sites Instagram and TikTok.
These have since been deleted, after his actions caused outrage among members of the public, including Grimsby Town fans.
What a bellend.
During a national lockdown, having a party with numerous people in his house and posting it all over social media.

In an interview with BBC Humberside Sport earlier this week, GTFC boss Paul Hurst confirmed that the club had launched an investigation.
“Clearly it’s something that doesn’t look good at all, something that we certainly don’t condone,” he added.
“As a football club, the situation is being investigated.
“I haven’t seen the things myself but I’ve been made aware of that. He’s on loan at Altrincham at the minute, and that’s not dismissing anything to do with the situation, but he’s not in with us.
“Clearly it’s against policy. The rules are present and to say that you’re disappointed in it would probably be an understatement. You have to wonder sometimes what’s going through people’s minds and what actions they take.
“So I’m 100 percent disappointed and like I said, it’s being investigated. Until further notice I can’t really say much more about it, other than it’s something that we’re all disappointed with.”
Gibson has now issued an apology for his ‘selfish’ actions via the club website.
In a statement, he wrote:
“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to apologise to the fans, Paul Hurst, the board of Grimsby Town and all players and staff at the club for my actions on Sunday.
“Having a child is a special occasion and with it being my first, we were wanting to celebrate safely with family. My actions came across as selfish and I am aware of all the sacrifices made in order to protect the NHS and save lives.
“I made a genuine mistake and will remind myself to ensure I know and respect the Government guidelines so an incident like this does not repeat itself.
“I am a young man who is now destined to be a father and I want to be a role model to her and all football fans across the world. I know I have let everyone down and I will endeavour to right my wrongs. Following an investigation by the club, the matter has been dealt with internally.
“I once again issue my sincere apologies.”
