Scunthorpe TV personality Jake Quickenden and his partner Sophie Church have spoken on Lorraine about the trolls targeting their newborn baby on social media.

Baby Leo Oliver was born last week, since when, his parents have been proudly sharing photographs with followers.

He was named partly after Jake’s late brother, who died after a battle with bone cancer in 2012.

Speaking to talk-show host Lorraine today, Jake Quickenden said:

“I feel like a lot of people, when they have a child, they name them after their grandparents or their parents who they might have lost.

“I just think it’s a natural thing to do – but these trolls thought it was me trying to get attention.

“I don’t understand why somebody would hate on, not only a newborn baby, but also somebody who they have never met.

“I feel like there should be something to stop these people but there’s nothing to stop them – and that’s why they continue to do it.

“To wish death on an unborn baby, when Sophie was carrying him, to say they wish she would have a miscarriage.

“And the hateful comments we have had since he has been born about me taking my top off in the hospital when the midwife told me to take it off to do skin-to-skin.”

Jake added: “it just doesn’t make any sense to me. It is really upsetting but we have tried to not let it tarnish the moment because I haven’t stopped smiling.”
