Final stages of Pyewipe roundabout construction

Stourbridge set for traffic disruption

The busy roundabout is due to complete construction before March.

Final stages of Pyewipe roundabout construction

Pyewipe roundabout improvements will begin the final stages of construction in the central island.

Following the necessary infrastructure works completed late last year, the final works to install the Variable Message Sign (VMS) at Pyewipe roundabout will be starting next month.

Electrical works and feeder pillars will run within the central island across the A180 westbound carriageway for one day on Monday 8 February between 9:30am and 3pm.

The A180 west and eastbound carriageways between Pyewipe roundabout and the Great Coates Interchange will be reduced to one lane.

The installation of the VMS will take place on Tuesday 16 February between 8pm and 5am.

NEL council have stated the A180 west and eastbound carriageways will again be reduced to one lane to ensure the safety of the contractors.

They also added: “on the same night, an existing VMS will be removed between Westgate roundabout and Lockhill roundabout.”

“These works will be carried out after the installation of the new VMS and a lane closure will be introduced on the A180 eastbound.”

The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE, with local contractor, McCann Ltd, carrying out the works.

Once complete, the VMS will allow the council and ENGIE to display messages to drivers at the roundabout.

Advertised messages will include roadworks which are a head, events or congestion on the highway network.
