Trashy decorations raise £5,000 for good causes
A ‘rubbish’ Christmas display at Grimsby tip has already raised more than £5,000 for local good causes.
Staff at Grimsby Community Recycling Centre have created a magical, recycled festive kingdom this month.
Most of the decorations are made using old tyres, traffic cones, drinks cans and other bits and pieces found at the site.
A tall, green Christmas tree greets visitors at the site entrance. Standing next to the tree is a snowman and an elf along with some of the Binion characters made earlier in the year.
There’s a trio of camels from a school nativity play and a pair of reindeer made from logs.
A spokesperson for North East Lincolnshire Council said: “Thank you to all the visitors who made a donation, so far we’ve helped raise more than £5,000 for local good causes.”
Grimsby and Immingham tips are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
