By Trees of Love become home to Christmas wishes
North East Lincolnshire Council, in partnership with St Andrew’s Hospice, is once again inviting people to share their Christmas wishes on the town’s ‘Trees of Love’.
Two 30ft Nordman Fir trees are standing tall in Grimsby town centre – one in The Bullring and one in the Riverhead – for everyone to enjoy.
Wooden hearts, to be put on the town centre Christmas trees, will be available between 11am and 3pm on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th December.
People will be able to write a personal message and make a text donation to St Andrew’s Hospice.
Simply collect a heart from the gift box by ones of the trees, add your message and pop it back into the ‘honesty box’ there.
Every hour, on the hour, the Christmas elves from St Andrew’s Hospice will come along and add your message to the tree for everyone to see.
Councillor Callum Procter, portfolio holder for tourism, heritage and culture, said:
“I’m delighted the Christmas trees, kindly donated by NewLincs Development Limited, have once again been dedicated as Trees of Love to give people the opportunity to include a message for someone they hold dear while also supporting St Andrew’s Hospice”.
“It’s a great personal touch that people will be able to contribute to decorating both the trees with their very own wooden stars”.
Becky Darnell, fundraising and campaigns lead at St Andrew’s Hospice, said:
“The hospice are thrilled to be invited along to be a part of this festive tradition and hope that people will spend a moment to write their wishes and messages to loved ones for us to hang on the trees, helping us to spread some festive joy in a year when our community is having to stand stronger than ever”.
