Police find cannabis factory after power supplies disrupted

A firearm was recovered from a cannabis factory containing around 150 plants at a property in Scunthorpe.

Police were called to an address in Ashby Road at 9.55am on Tuesday by concerned Northern Power staff following reports of issues with electricity supplies in the area.

Officers found approximately 50 plants in three rooms of the property and that the electricity had been tampered with.

No one was in the property at the time of the discovery and at this stage no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

However, an investigation has been launched to trace those behind the operation.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Cannabis grown in residential properties can pose a serious fire risk to neighbouring properties, as the electricity supply is tampered with to bypass the meter.
