Local NHS health trust hits 100+ COVID-19 patients ‘milestone’
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust announced late last night that they are now caring for more than 100 COVID-19 positive patients in hospitals in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole.
A statement on the trust’s Facebook page read: “Today we have reached a significant milestone in that we are now, for the first time, caring for 100+ COVID-19 positive patients across our hospitals – as of this morning we had 101 inpatients – 54 in Grimsby, 44 at Scunthorpe and 3 at Goole. 10 of these patients are receiving treatment in intensive care.
Our hospitals and emergency centres remain to be very busy. If you need to seek help from our A&Es this weekend you could be waiting for quite a while, if this is the case we apologise in advance.
“Our staff are working incredibly hard to see and treat as many patients as possible but they too live in our local communities and are affected by this virus, as are their families, with many having to self-isolate as a result.
“This is why the national lockdown is essential. We urge you all to play your part by adhering to the new restrictions which mean you must stay at home
The Trust urges people only to leave home for food, medical reasons, exercise, education, and work and to avoid travel unless it is essential.
If you do need help but it’s not a medical emergency please contact your GP, pharmacist or NHS 111. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 call 119 or go online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus to get a test.
