Responsible To: The Headteacher –The Sallygate School
We are seeking to recruit aKS2/3/4 SEND Class Teacher who is a great all-rounder- enthusiastic, innovativeand highly motivated. A strong commitment to moving the school to ‘Outstanding’and leading by example are of key importance. Applicants that have priorexperience or training in the Primary or SEND sectors will be well prepared forteaching in our school. We are looking to strengthen our provision with abroader curriculum across the school including securing good outcomes for our pupilsas they prepare for Post 16 education/training with other providers; thereforecandidates with the experience or drive to lead on a specific curriculum areawould have the opportunity and support to do so.
Job Summary
To take responsibility for theplanning, implementation and assessment of a broad and balanced curriculum fora small class of pupils with Special Educational Needs and a history ofattachment, trauma and SEMH difficulties. To ensure that all pupils with varyinglearning abilities from KS2 to KS4 make progress and achieve the best possibleoutcomes.

- Able to offer learners a highquality curriculum, giving them confidence to succeed
- Able to inspire pupils throughthe delivery of engaging lessons and to reduce gaps in learning for ourpupils

Information about the school
Channels and Choices wasestablished in 2005. It was founded by a group of Qualified Social Workers whohad become increasingly frustrated with the quality of children’s services whenplacing young people. From that time Channels & Choices has developed in toa centre of excellence in therapeutic child care services. Channels and ChoicesTherapeutic Community comprises of 6 children’s residential homes, a DfEregistered school, a therapeutic fostering service and a resident therapy team.Currently graded Good with Outstanding Features at the last Ofsted Inspectionin 2018
In December 2011 Channels andChoices opened The Sallygate School. This is a school for children with SEMH(Social, Emotional, Mental Health) needs. The school curriculum caters for keystages 2, 3 and 4 and has a high level of staff to pupil ratios to ensure thateach individual child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Theschool offers a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum blended with theNational Curriculum.
The school works alongside theresident therapy team, including a resident Psychologist, to help young peoplework through difficult emotional and behavioural difficulties, which oftenpresent as extreme barriers to their learning.
