Suspect charged following serious High Street assault
A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault on High Street, Scunthorpe, on Wednesday 30 September.
Last week it was reported that a man had been left in serious condition following the incident which occurred near to the HSBC Bank and Primark, between 3.30 and 3.45pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Speaking at the time, Detective Inspector Vicky Huyton said:
“We would appeal for any information that could help us to identify the man in the CCTV images, who was believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident, as we think he may be able to assist with our enquiries.
“I would like to offer reassurance to the public that this incident is believed to be isolated with no threat to the wider community. Patrols have been increased in the area if you wish to raise any concerns.”
Officers for Humberside Police immediately launched a CCTV appeal. A suspect was subsequently arrested.
Joshua Weaver, 22, of Argyle Court, is remanded to appear before Grimsby Magistrates Court today, Friday, 9 October.
He has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of offensive weapon.
