Driver arrested in Operation Galaxy warrant
Humberside Police Officers carrying out an Operation Galaxy have arrested the driver of a vehicle, and subsequently carried out a warrant at a related address.
Both are in connection with a drug offence case.
Yesterday evening, Thursday 24 September, the Roads Crime Team stopped a vehicle on the Humber Bridge.
During the search, a large quantity of drugs were found in the boot of the vehicle.
As part of the ongoing investigation, officers carried out a warrant at an address in High Santon, near Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.
A number of cannabis plants were found along with a large quantity of dried cannabis.
Today, Friday 25 September, they seized an estimated £25,000 worth of cannabis from the property.
The suspect remains in police custody whilst enquiries continue.
This follows a national police operation against county lines drug gangs, which took place between Monday 14 and Sunday 20 September.
Police made arrests and seized an incredible amount of drugs and cash in their pursuit of gangs trafficking drugs into the area.
The operation was part of an intensification against such gangs, aiming to protect vulnerable young people from becoming involved in the drug trade.
A total of five warrants were executed within the region covered by Humberside Police.
20 people were arrested, almost £240,000 worth of drugs were taken off the streets and £9,500 cash recovered.
Discussing the increased effort, Detective Chief Inspector Iain Pottage said:
“The week has seen a 100% increase in intelligence being submitted to us to review and build upon.
“I can only thank the public for their support of this operation. Their information has been crucial to the activity we’ve undertaken last week and has been what has led to some of our successful arrests.”
