A local Samurai academy just off Freeman Street, Grimsby, has sadly fallen victim to thieves and vandals over the weekend.

The incident is thought to have taken place between 11pm-12am on the evening of Saturday 19 September.

Thieves are said to have broken into the Samurai Hearts Martial Arts and Fitness Centre, before vandalising the academy, and destroying the CCTV.

Two sets of wooden swords, an iPad Mini and an amount of cash have been taken.

Andy Abernethie, Director and Chief Instructor at Samurai Hearts Martial Arts and Fitness Centre discovered the break in.

Expressing his anger via social media, he said:

“Last night our academy got broken into.
“It has been ransacked. I am so mad, my team and I have worked so hard over the last few months for this!
“We will be spending all day tomorrow deep cleaning to get the academy ready to open tomorrow night.
“Please share and spread the word.”
The culprit or culprits are said to have left behind vital evidence in the form of a cap and a small bag.

Mr Abernethie has appealed to the public to identify these items. He feels they could be key to finding those responsible.
Hundreds of locals responded to a social media appeal after the local Samurai academy was targeted by thieves, but as of yet, nobody has come forward with any information.
One well-wisher said:
“Disgusted and upset this has happened! You all have worked incredibly hard!
“There are some truly despicable people around.”
Another added:
“I am truly gutted for you.
“You will bounce back mate, you know what they say you can’t keep a good man down! Well, you are a great Man.”
