Resort to raise awareness of fatal disease

A Cleethorpes landmark will be used to mark World Duchenne Awareness Day today (Monday).

Ross Castle on the seafront will be lit up in red tonight in support of Duchenne Awareness.

September 7 has been earmarked as a special day to raise awareness for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD and BMD) around the globe.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a muscle-wasting condition which affects 250,000 people worldwide.

One in 5000 newborn boys in the world is affected by DMD, the most common type of muscular dystrophy.
