By Virtual meeting as Full Council tackles pandemic problem
Councillors in North East Lincolnshire will this week “return’’ to Grimsby Town Hall for the first Full Council meeting since the outbreak of Covid-19.
The 42 members will take part in a virtual, hybrid set up on Thursday (July 30) – in a first for the authority.
As it’s a hybrid meeting as part of the return to normality, a number of councillors will be able to attend the Town Hall in person in line with social distancing guidelines, while others will be able to log in to the virtual meeting, which will be live-streamed to the council’s website for members of the public to watch.
Those attending must have completed Covid-19 online training beforehand and will be required to conform to social distancing measures while in the meeting.
The council agenda and papers are published on the council’s website at www.nelincs.gov.uk along with the link to the meeting..
Council Leader Philip Jackson said it was important the Full Council meeting was held as soon as was practical.
“Over the last couple of months, we’ve held virtual Cabinet, Scrutiny and other meetings to continue to do the business of the council, so the Full Council meeting is the next logical step,’’ he said.
“We’re hoping some of the lessons we’ve learned from those smaller meetings will assist in making Thursday go smoothly and I’m sure members from all political parties will welcome being back in the chamber, as it were, to debate issues facing the area and our residents and business.’’
The meeting of the Full Council will take place at 7pm.
