Tragedy following A18 collision
Humberside Police have confirmed that a man tragically died following a collision on the A18 in Scunthorpe yesterday.
The crash occurred on the A18 Kingsway in Scunthorpe at the junction with Brumby Wood Lane.
A scooter and a car are said to have collided at around 6pm.
Paramedics attended the scene and treatment was given to the rider of the scooter.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
A statement issued by Humberside Police said:
“The family of the scooter rider have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“They have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
“We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 436 of 15 July.”
The road was closed for several hours last night following the crash.
Motorists were diverted and advised to avoid the area.
The family of the unidentified scooter rider have been informed of his death.
They are being supported by specially trained officers, according to a police statement.
Officers are appealing for information following this tragic collision.
They have requested that anybody who witnessed the collision or can aid the investigation contact Humberside Police and submit details or dashcam footage.
