Work on George Street has been completed early.
George Street has been resurfaced and also received improved drainage, repaired kerbstones and new road markings.
If you head into town this week, you’ll probably notice that George Street is looking a lot more sleek than it had for a while thanks to a £265,000 makeover.
The projects was originally supposed to commence in September 2020, but was fast tracked thanks to the lower traffic during lockdown both from pedestrians and busses.
County Councillor Liam Walker, Cabinet member for highway operation and delivery, said:
“I am pleased that we have been able to bring forward this important piece of work to take advantage of quieter road conditions in the city centre.
He also added:
“We have teams working hard across Oxfordshire to deliver this year’s £32m road maintenance programme and I want to pay tribute to everyone who has helped to keep things moving under very difficult circumstances.”
