Inside socially-distanced Tollbar MAT schools

Pictures of socially-distanced classrooms inside Tollbar MAT schools have been released, as the trust chief reveals his fears for a generation of school children.

Chief Executive of the academy trust, David Hampson, that runs seven local schools has said children must return to the classroom, and expressed frustrations over government restrictions.

Extensive work has been undertaken at Tollbar Academy, Cleethorpes Academy, Louth Academy, Somercotes Academy, Reynolds Primary Academy, Pilgrim Academy and Theddlethorpe Primary to make them Covid-safe for pupils.

Staff also have access to extensive supplies of PPE .

Mr Hampson added:

“Schools will never be able to increase their class sizes unless the social distancing measures are reduced from two metres, and I believe that the Government should provide some flexibility in this by putting the decision into the hands of the CEOs and Principals of the individual academies, in consultation with their staff.

“We need to get children back into the classroom so that we can give them the education they deserve.

“The safety of all of our students and staff is paramount, but I believe we are ready for them to return to the classroom as a matter of urgency, otherwise we will have an educationally deprived generation of children.”

Teaching unions have widely criticised the Government for allowing children to return at all this academic year.

Stallingborough CE Primary School was forced to close today after a pupil tested positive for Covid-19.
