Firefighters tackle Hull garden blaze
Firefighters have tackled a blaze in a Hull garden which started shortly before 22:00 on Tuesday evening.
Flames and smoke were seen coming from a home in Stromness Way, close to the Saltshouse Tavern, in the Sutton area of Hull.
Crews were called just before 22:00 to a fire on Stromness Way.
Paramedics also attended the scene.
In total, four fire engines from Humberside Fire and Rescue were sent to the incident, which was a fire against the side of a house.
A local resident said on Twitter:
“Praying my neighbours are okay tonight after this huge fire.
“Looks like it started in their shed but the whole garden and side of the house ablaze.
“Lots of firefighters on the scene in Stromness Way, east Hull.”
The fire was put out at around 23:20.
The same neighbour later said:
“It’s now been dampened down by Humberside Fire.
“So much admiration and respect for the job they do, putting their lives on the line day in, day out like that.
“Just hope no-one has been injured.”
Humberside Fire and Rescue have confirmed that nobody was injured in the incident.
A spokeswoman from Humberside Fire and Rescue said they had received the initial call at 9.54pm.
“We had two crews in attendance and then that was made up to four fire engines.
“Our fire investigation officer was also in attendance.
“Two main lines and two hose reel jets, as well as seven sets of breathing apparatus, were used to put out the fire.
“All engines have now left the property after the last one left at 11.30pm.”
