Landslip in Lincolnshire causes disruption
A landslip has occurred in Northern Lincolnshire, causing delays and disruption to local rail services, including in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
The incident, which happened at the weekend, is affecting Northern Trains between Doncaster and Scunthorpe.
TransPennine Express services between Manchester Airport and Cleethorpes are also affected.
As a result, a rail replacement bus is running in place of the Transpennine Express service between Sheffield and Scunthorpe.
Services may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.
According to National Rail Enquiries there is no firm date yet for when the line will fully reopen.
Network Rail estimate that repair work will continue until at least 24 June.
The landslip has happened on the line close to Brumby Wood Lane in Scunthorpe.
Civil engineering teams have been on the scene.
Railway operator Northern have stressed that all remaining services are for essential use only.
“Due to a landslip between Scunthorpe and Althorpe trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines.
“Disruption is expected until the end of the day on 20/06.”
Providers are also reminding service users that despite delays, social distancing measures remain in place, and that as of Monday 15 June, all customers are required to wear face coverings on public transport.
