Lincoln Castle partially reopened as lockdown eases
Lincoln Castle has been permitted to partially reopen to the public as of today, as the Government continue to ease lockdown restrictions.
Visitors will now be able to visit Lincoln Castle’s grounds and its Medieval wall walk again as of today.
The castle will be open from 10am-5pm seven days a week.
Anybody planning to visit the castle’s wall walk will need to pre-book tickets online.
Once on site, a one-way system will be in place at the wall.
A maximum capacity will also be set for the site as a whole and all the buildings there will remain closed for the moment, in line with Government guidelines.
This limit will be set at 100 people at a time.
A spokesperson for Lincoln Castle has said:
“We really want to get this right first time. Please help us achieve this by supporting and following our new measures.”
Laura Ince, site manager, added:
“We’re delighted to be moving to our second phase of reopening.
“Reopening the wall walk and our café (for takeaway only) is really the next step.
“We’ve put a number of social distancing measures in place for the wall walk – so it will be one way, only allowing a certain number of visitors at any time, and a marked out queuing area.
“Visitors will also have to enter and exit by the same area, so it can be marshalled.”
Annual pass holders don’t need to book to take a walk round the structure.
But, they may need to wait as only limited numbers will be allowed on the walls due to social distancing.
The cafe at the castle will also be reopening, but for takeaway services only.
