Operation Galaxy continues with 3 more arrests on Victor Street

Gi Media went live on Victor Street in Grimsby, where Humberside Police’s Operation Galaxy continued, and officers made 3 more arrests.

This is one of multiple raids being executed across Grimsby today, as part of an operation to tackle organised gang crime.

Addresses on the East Marsh and in the Hainton and Heneage area are being targeted.

It is thought that the arrests were made in relation to child exploitation and county lines drug offences.

Operation Galaxy is a task force arranged to protect and identify vulnerable people, assist in locating missing people and identify individuals with links to organised crime and exploitation, through collating intelligence and information.

It is comprised of detectives, officers and staff from Major Crime, Roads Policing, Intelligence, Economic Crime, Police dogs and handlers and various other departments.

Speaking to Gi Media, Councillor Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for Safer and Stronger Communities said:

“We’re here today on Victor Street as part of Operation Galaxy where we are executing a warrant for child exploitation and county lines drug issues.

“There have been a number of arrests made this morning. 

“Housing Officers are currently checking accommodation in a few of the properties, as we have found several houses of poor quality and those landlords will be spoken to.”

In a statement released by Humberside Police yesterday, Chief Superintendent Darren Downs said:

“The Op Galaxy activity this weekend has seen 38 people taken into custody, along with a further four arrested today in a drugs warrants in Scunthorpe and two arrested in Beverley and Withernsea for harassment and domestic abuse cases, taking the total arrested in just six days to 133!

“Throughout the week we have carried out 62 stop and searches of people, seized an estimated £15K of Class A drugs, and £550K worth of cannabis as well as recovering lots of property and stolen goods which we hope to reunite with their rightful owners.

“We’re very pleased with what we have achieved so far and continue to be buoyed by the backing of our communities who have been very supportive of our action.

“High visibility police patrols have been continuing throughout the Force paying particular attention today to Bridlington and Grimsby as we make arrests for people wanted in connection ongoing investigations.

“We have been delighted with the intelligence that people are coming forward with, all of this helps us gather evidence to be able to tackle those people impacting on our communities.”

Following a raid at a house on Victor Street, the Operation Galaxy team made 3 arrests.

This comes as the force reported that they had made 133 arrests in just six days of action.
