Police update after collision on Scartho Road
Officers for Humberside Police are investigating a serious collision between a bicycle and Seat Leon on Scartho Road in Grimsby.
In a recent update, they stated that they are currently seeking witnesses.
An appeal has now been launched for anyone who saw the crash or either the car or the cyclist prior to the collision, to come forward and contact Humberside Police.
The incident occurred at around 20:40 last night, when a white Seat Leon heading towards Nuns Corner collided with a green mountain bike.
The cyclist sustained serious injuries.
He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment where he remains today.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said:
“Officers investigating a collision at the junction of Scartho Road and Sutcliffe Avenue in Grimsby yesterday, Saturday 30 May, are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
“The collision happened at around 8.40pm when a white Seat Leon collided with a green mountain bike.
“The man who was riding the bike at the time of the collision, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he currently remains.
“We are asking anyone that witnessed the collision to please get in touch by calling our non-emergency 101 line and quoting log 560 of Saturday 30 May.”
There was also extensive damage to the windscreen and bonnet of the car.
Police confirmed at around midnight that the road had reopened to traffic.
