Council issue warning after children seen in closed playgrounds
North East Lincolnshire Council have issued a warning to residents, after parents have been seen lifting children into closed playgrounds.
They have asked parents to be responsible, advising that play parks remain closed under lockdown restrictions.
Play areas have been close during the lockdown because of the risk of spreading coronavirus.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said:
“Parks and open spaces remain open, with more than 50 to choose from within the borough that can be used, while following social distancing guidelines.
“It’s really important people follow the advice issued by Government and respect that, for the time being, we have had to close our play parks due to the outbreak.
“If the park is closed and the gates are locked, please do not ignore this and lift your children over the gate.
“All signs are to be left in place and not taken down.
“The play areas are closed for a reason and for public safety.”
This follows the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson that lockdown restrictions are to be eased from Monday, allowing people to meet up to 6 people from 2 other households in private and public outdoor spaces.
And, the suggestion that schools should begin to reopen from Monday 1 of June.
