Pair charged with kidnap after victim escapes from Grimsby property

Violent disturbance on Anderson Street

Yesterday evening, a violent disturbance occurred on Anderson Street, Grimsby, as a man wielding a knife in a standoff was arrested.

Humberside Police cordoned off Anderson Street on Grimsby’s West Marsh for around two hours during the rooftop standoff.

It is alleged that the man had taken to the roof of a terraced house armed with a knife, and was making violent threats.

There was a heavy police presence as officers attempted to coax him down, and at one point, entered a property wearing riot gear.

This is the second violent incident reported by Humberside Police yesterday, following an altercation where a man was stabbed and left with life-threatening injuries on Selge Way.

The man involved in the disturbance on Anderson Street has now been arrested and remains in police custody.

It is not known whether anybody was injured.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said:

“A man has been arrested tonight following an incident at a house on Anderson Street in Grimsby.

“The man was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in our custody.

“We can reassure local residents that it thought to be an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public.”
