By Grimsby man jailed for multiple thefts
Following an investigation by Grimsby CID, a Grimsby man has been jailed for multiple thefts.
Stephen Call, 29, of Veal Street, Grimsby received a prison sentenced when he appeared at Grimsby Crown Court on Thursday the 16th of April charged with burglary, handling stolen goods, theft and going equipped for theft.
Call was arrested for these offences on 11 March.
After denying the offences in interview, the Crown Prosecution Services authorised charges against him which led to him being remanded in custody.
Following his appearance at Grimsby Crown Court last Thursday, he pleaded guilty to the following offences:
- Handling a stolen bicycle valued £500, which was taken from a shed burglary in February,
- Stealing a bicycle worth £290 in March,
- Two thefts from a garage in March
- Going equipped for theft after he was found with bolt croppers and wire cutters in his rucksack on 13 February
- Stealing a bag of tools and a hedge trimmer, after breaking into a shed in Cleethorpes on 11 March.
Detective Inspector Kerry Bull said”
“Mr Call is a prolific thief who has found himself on the wrong side of the law far too many times.
“I hope this sentence will not only give him time to reflect on his actions but also serve as a warning to anyone else who thinks they can steal from others. We will thoroughly investigate burglaries and thefts and will do everything in our power to bring people to justice.”
Stephen Call was already serving a suspended sentence for two theft offences dating back to January and so was sentenced by Judge Mark Bury to two and a half years imprisonment.
