Burglary report in Grimsby leads to cannabis farm discovery

A burglary report at a property in Grimsby has led officers for Humberside Police to discover a cannabis farm, and to arrest a man in relation to the burglary.

The 25 year-old man from Colchester, Essex, was arrested on Saturday 11 April on suspicion of a burglary.

Officers were called to a house on Elshenham Road in Grimsby following reports of a burglary at the address. When officers arrived at the scene there was evidence of a break in and inside they found hundreds of cannabis plants and growing equipment.

The suspect was arrested a short time later on Pyewipe Road, he has been released from custody pending further enquiries.

Humberside Police have said that officers working under Operation Galaxy are working hard to rid the streets of drugs and that if anyone has information about drugs being dealt or grown in their community, they should call the police on 101 and report their suspicions.

Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley, who is part of the Operation Galaxy Team, said:

“The remit of Operation Galaxy is to proactively target those responsible for committing crime in our communities, to make the lives of criminals and predators difficult and uncomfortable.

It’s all about listening to you, our communities, across the Humberside Force area and acting on what you tell us is a concern in your neighbourhood.”
