Police issue CCTV appeal following a theft in Oxford
Thames Valley Police have issued CCTV images as part of an appeal following a theft in Oxford. Police believe the man pictured may have vital information which could help their investigation.
A man was seen entering Sainsbury’s in Westgate shopping centre, Oxford, on Tuesday 10 March at around 4.30pm.
He tried to remove security tags on bottles of alcohol but was unsuccessful. He then put them back and took different bottles, successfully removing the tags this time.
The man put them inside his jacket and walked towards the store exit.
When the alarm sounded he ran from the store.
Bottles of Jack Daniels ‘Honey’ and a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka were stolen.
Later that evening, at around 6.30pm, a further incident occurred when a man removed the security tags on a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey and left the store with the whiskey without paying for it.
Investigating Officer Detective Constable Lee Dix based at St Aldates police station, said:
“We have released these CCTV images as we would like to speak to the man pictured.
If you think you know him or you believe this might be you, please get in touch with police.
We think he has vital information which could help us with this investigation.
