Man charged with attempted murder following hit-and-run
Following a hit-and-run incident in Rodbourne Road, a man has been charged with attempted murder.
Mohammed Shajeed Ali, 20, of Warneford Close, Toothill, has been charged with attempted murder and will appear at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.
The incident occurred outside The Dolphin pub on the 6th of March at around 3.30pm, when Ali, driving a Nissan Juke, hit two pedestrians and immediately drove away from the scene.
The vehicle was found abandoned a short while later.
A 26-year-old man was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
A second 31-year-old man suffered minor injuries.
Shortly after the incident, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
Mr Ali was arrested yesterday and has been remanded in custody.
He is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.
