Unlucky family have second roof ripped apart.
A young Grimsby family has been left horrified after they woke to two men staging a rooftop standoff and ripping tiles from their roof. It is believed that the family moved to the house after a similar incident ruined their Christmas four years ago. It is thought that the family moved to Welbeck Road after having their roof ripped to pieces on Castle Street, by Joshua Dempsey. They are now thought to be considering moving again.
In the latest incident tiles and bricks were thrown from the roof, damaging cars and endangering residents, who had to be evacuated for their safety. The incident carried on for four hours. A family of six had to be protected by riot shields as police led them from their homes.
A neighbour had two cars damaged as police pleaded with the pair to stop throwing tiles so that his wife and young children could escape their home. Another resident also had his car damaged, yet another had his brand new car damaged.
One resident believes that the only reason the men came down is that they were promised a McDonald’s and a hug from their girlfriends.
The neighbourhood policing team is out in the area today answering any questions. Humberside Police strongly encourage anyone with any concerns or information to please speak to them.
