Grimsby Pensioners home crushed by falling tree.
A Grimsby pensioner is lucky to be alive after his home in Scartho was crushed by an old oak tree. The tree uprooted during Storm Ciara yesterday as the pensioner was inside his home on Allestree Drive, Scartho.
He was lucky to have escaped unhurt as fire crews led him to safety and isolated power supplies to his home. A building inspector with Engie ensured the home was safeguarded along side a team of contractors.
The pensioner is believed to be being looked after by relatives and he will not be able to return to the house until it is rebuilt.
A number of trees around the area were blown down during the ferocious Storm Ciara.
