Man injured in a horrible violent assault on Boxing Day.
A troublemaker punched a man in a pub repeatedly because he blamed him for petrol bombing his mother’s house. It is believed that the other man had once been married to his mother.
An argument broke at the King’s Head pub in Waltham the manager intervened but Rikki Chapman pulled out a tyre iron that looked like a crowbar. He is thought to have raised it high in the air and threatened the manager.
He then rained blows on the other man’s head while he was holding the tyre iron. It was not suggested that he used it in the attack. The victim suffered a black eye. Rikki Chapman was later found by police in Immingham and was over the drink-drive limit.
He had convictions for 10 previous offences. He haad acted in a hot-headed way when his aunt had shown him CCTV pictures of a car and fence being burned when young children and a grandmother were in his mother’s house. He was told that whatever the provocation real or imagined he had no justification for doing what he did and he seriously overreacted
Rikki Chapman had been in custody and was given an 11 month suspended prison sentence. He was also banned from driving for three years.
