Starting School for the First Time in September 2020
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 you need to apply now for their place in primary school (Reception year), to start in September 2020.
My child is still in nursery/pre-school – isn’t it too early to apply for a school place?
No – if your child will be 5 years old by 31 August 2021, you need to apply by 15 January 2020 to secure them a place in Reception.
How do I apply?
• Online, by registering an account and applying through the Citizen Portal on the North East Lincolnshire Council website. You will need a valid email address to be able to apply online.
Go to: www.nelincs.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/apply-for-a-school-place and click on the Citizen Portal link to start the process.

• Complete and return a paper application form to the School Admissions team at Civic Offices, Knoll Street, Cleethorpes. Please speak to your child’s nursery or pre-school to request a form or call the School Admissions team on 01472 326291 (option 4).
The closing date for making your application is 15 January 2020.
Please be aware that if your child currently attends a nursery or pre-school, this does NOT mean that they have automatically applied for a place at the associated primary school. An application form (online or paper) must be submitted for each child to be considered for a school place.
