Warning for Lincolnshire parents: please read

Scarlet fever has again been reported in Lincolnshire.  Just last week saw six individual cases reported in the region.

These diagnoses were in Lincoln, West Lindsey, North and South Kesteven, South Holland and Boston.

The infectious condition predominantly is found in small children, presumably because of their weaker immune systems. Symptoms include a fever, display flu-like symptoms such as aches and pains, a sore throat, coating on the tongue and possibly and swollen neck glands.

Although quite nasty for sufferers, it can usually be treated by antibiotics and can clear up in around a week.

GP treatment must be sought.

Please share with any parents or carers with small children to help spread the words of advice and not the infection.
