Random act of kindness puts a smile on Grimsby nurse’s face.
A paediatric nurse at Grimsby’s Princess of Wales Hospital said she found it hard to believe when a complete stranger presented her with a beautiful bouquet on Sunday. She said that after a very busy shift it put a huge smile on her face and made her year.
She learned later that she had been given a Betty’s Bunch. The idea of Betty’s Bunch was set up by Lynn Collins in honour of her late mum Betty Smith. A Betty’s Bunch is a random act of kindness in which a person is presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers.
Lynn buys a bunch of flowers every time she goes shopping and finds an old lady to give them to on her way home. She always says this is Betty’s Bunch because she can’t give them to her mum anymore she gives them in her memory. Betty passed away six years ago but she is remembered every day in Grimsby and Cleethorpes by strangers giving random gifts of kindness in her memory.
