A Householder tried to deter burglar with a snooker cue.
During a terrifying confrontation to ward of a burglar, a householder grabbed a snooker cue to try and get him out of his flat.
The burglar broke into the man’s home late one night and threatened to stab him with a knife.
The householder managed to flee to a friend upstairs flat and contacted the police.
Lewis Durkin 24 of St Francis Avenue, Grimsby admitted burglary and possessing a knife. He also threatened another man with a knife in a separate incident and took a mountain bike from him.
Lewis Durkin had 56 previous offences including burglary. When the offences took place he was spending £100 a day on cocaine and also drinking.
He was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court to three years and nine months. His sentence also included a consecutive 28 days for breaching a suspended prison sentence.
