Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman sadly died following a collision in Tidworth earlier this afternoon.
Wiltshire Police were called to a pedestrian crossing, close to the Esso garage, on the A338, at 2.36pm today (12/11).
A blue Volkskwagen Sharan had collided with two pedestrians who had been crossing the road.
One of them, a 55-year-old woman from Ludgershall, sadly died at the scene.
Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
The second pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Salisbury District Hospital with minor injuries.
The female driver of the car remained at the scene and has been assisting us with our enquiries. At this stage no arrests have been made.
We closed the road to deal with the incident and carry out investigative work. It has now reopened.
PC Pete Williamson, from Wiltshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We have already spoken to a number of witnesses, but we are appealing for anyone else with information who has not yet come forward to please call us.
“We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who has dash cam footage or who saw either the collision itself, or the Volkswagen Sharan shortly beforehand.
“If you can help in any way then please make contact with police.”
Anyone with information should call PC Williamson on 101, quoting log 162 of today (12/11). Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
