Black History Month: Focus on South Yorkshire Firefighters

In honour of Black History Month, a new exhibition featuring photographs of firefighters across South Yorkshire is opening in Sheffield.

The fire service vocalize that people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds are marginalized in the profession both locally and across the country. Stephen Moss is among those to feature in the exhibition, who is believed to be the first black firefighter to join the South Yorkshire service in when he joined in 1977.

The exhibition shows portraits from ten members of the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue team, including those in the frontline and their support team.

From today until Thursday 24 October, they will go on show in numerous locations including the Winter Gardens and the railway station.
