Traffic signal upgrades at Grimsby junction

Traffic signals are set to be upgraded at the Laceby Road and Winchester Avenue junction.

The existing traffic signals will be replaced with upgraded traffic signals that will improve the efficiency of traffic moving through the junction, especially during peak times. The pedestrian crossing will also be upgraded with the latest crossing technology to ensure all users of the crossing have enough time to cross safely.

Phase one
The first phase of works will start on Monday 30 September and are expected to be completed by Wednesday 9 October. During this phase, the traffic signals and pedestrian crossing facility will be upgraded.

For the majority of this phase, the existing traffic signals will still be in use but there may be times when temporary traffic signals are required to ensure the safety of those completing the works.

Phase two
The second phase of works will start on Thursday 10 October and are expected to be completed on Sunday 20 October. During this phase the carriageway will be resurfaced and road markings renewed. These works will be completed under a full night time closure from 7pm until 6am.

Bus services affected by the closure will be diverted and advanced notices displayed on the buses and bus stops affected.

A signed diversion route will be put in place during the closure.

Phase three
The final phase of works will start on Monday 21 October and are expected to be completed by Friday 25 October. During this phase, a number of improvements to the footway will be carried out.

For the duration of the works, Winchester Avenue will be closed between the junction and Stratford Avenue to allow the works to be completed. The bus services affected by the closure will be diverted and advanced notices displayed on the buses and bus stops affected.

Once works are complete, the layout of the road and the junction will remain the same.

North East Lincolnshire Council and ENGIE would like to thank road users for their cooperation while the improvement works take place.
