As reported yesterday, the A180 was closed for 6 hours as a result of a Grimsby serious road traffic incident near the Great Coates Interchange near Grimsby. Very sadly a man has died.

Humberside Police have issued the following statement in a quest to find out what happened:

An orange and blue box van was travelling along the westbound carriageway around 4pm when it was seen to veer across two lanes, hit a lamp post and end up in a ditch by the side of the road.
Emergency crews attended and the driver of the van, who is from West Yorkshire, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
We think that he could have possibly suffered a medical episode. No other vehicles were involved.
