Driver who was banned after a horrific accident caught behind the wheel.
Lee Crawford was banned from driving in 2003 after leaving a schoolboy fighting for his life in a horrific accident. He hit the schoolboy while reaching for his mobile phone which left the bright and promising student’s life utterly devastated. He was left fighting for his life with serious head injuries. Crawford who was 28 at the time admitted aggravated vehicle taking, having no insurance, failing to provide a specimen, driving with the wrong class of licence, failing to stop after an accident and having no test certificate.
He was jailed for two years and two months 16 years ago but even though his five-year ban had since expired he was still a disqualified driver because he had still not passed an extended retest. He was also jailed again in 2005 for 28 days for driving while disqualified and 14 years later he has been caught again.
Lee Crawford was fined £200 and was banned from driving for 28 days and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a Government imposed victims surcharge.
