Compost trail leads the way to stolen bike

Officers have tracked down a stolen motorbike in Grimsby, all thanks to a trail of compost that was left behind on a pavement!

We executed a Misuse of Drugs warrant at a property on Wootton Road earlier this morning Tuesday 27 August. A small amount of ‘Spice‘ was found at the address and the occupants were spoken to by officers.

A second warrant was also carried out on Kirkstead Crescent as part of Operation Yellowfin, our ongoing initiative to tackle motorbike crime. That unfortunately proved unsuccessful this time.

However, on their way back officers were flagged down by a member of the public on Milton Road who reported that her Yamaha motorbike had been stolen last night, along with some hedge trimmers and three bags of compost.

It didn’t take long for officers to find the evidence that led to the stolen goods. A trail of compost could clearly be seen on the pavement which led to another property just down the street, where the stolen items were recovered.

Two youths are due to attend a police station next week where they’ll be taking part in voluntary interviews in connection with this.
