Cleethorpes penultimate home fixture in the 4 Probate & Wills ECB Yorkshire South Premier League

Barnsley Woolley Miners are the visitors to Chichester Road on Saturday for Cleethorpes penultimate home fixture in the 4 Probate & Wills ECB Yorkshire South Premier League.

The South Yorkshire side were shocked last week when they were defeated by Hallam who have made tremendous strides to retaining their ECB League status. That shock victory gave Hallam 12 points and enabled them to close to within 6 points of Cleethorpes who were defeated by Treeton.
The Meggies will be looking to at least maintain that gap and keep their fate in their own hands. Barnsley looked almost unbeatable a few weeks back but the departure of their overseas player Harpreet Singh Bhatia, who boasted a batting average of 101.29, has reduced their strength and left them looking less secure.
However they still have some dangerous players in their side and Cleethorpes batsmen will have to counter the skills of slow bowler Oliver Jackson who has taken 31 wickets this season. Dan Waldron, who spent the winter playing in Australia, is also a danger with the ball having claimed 22 victims.
In the absence of Bhatia the batting is led by former Meggie Jonathon Trower who was a member of the Cleethorpes side which lifted the Yorkshire League title in 2003. Trower has hit 4 half centuries this season in accumulating 506 runs. The next highest scorer is Steven Nuttall with 263.
Cleethorpes field the exact side which returned from Whitley Hall with maximum points two weeks ago.  After two consecutive top order batting failures they will be hoping for a return to form from their talented players who appear to have lost confidence. Victory on Saturday will go a long way to restoring their belief in their ability and bring them back to the high scoring side they were during the early part of the season.
