BE captivated this August by Words and Pictures
A free exhibition of artwork inspired by literature in the Albert Room at Cleethorpes Library. Thanks to funding from the Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts and Libraries Fund, Lincs Inspire have been able to commission a number of local artists, including three Franklin college students to each create a piece of artwork taking inspiration from their favourite book or piece of literature.
The exhibition is part of an ongoing programme of work by Lincs Inspire, celebrating and supporting local creative talent. Some of the commissioned artwork is available for the public to buy and a selection of the books that the pieces are inspired by are available to borrow from the library.
Rachel McWilliam, Arts Development Officer, Lincs Inspire said: “This is a fantastic exhibition with a really diverse range of artworks on show. We had no idea what to expect when we commissioned the artists and gave them the theme of favourite books or literature to work from, but they’ve delivered originality, creativity and wonderful variety. The talent we have in North East Lincolnshire is clear to see in this exhibition. It’s a must see if you’re in the area.”
The exhibition will take place throughout August during Cleethorpes Library opening hours, Monday to Thursday – 8:30am to 5pm, Saturday – 9am to 1pm, Friday and Sunday closed. For more information visit lincsinspire.com.
