13 Whitley Hall

Whitley Hall provide the opposition to Cleethorpes Cricket Club on Saturday in the 4 Probate & Wills ECB Yorkshire South Premier League.

Still searching for their first victory since the end of May Cleethorpes face a side who have just run into form. After back to back league victories the Sheffield area side reached the final of the Viking Cup last weekend when they defeated a strong Woodhouse Grange outfit by 5 wickets.
When the two sides met at Chichester Road in May Cleethorpes suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost by 19 runs but did collect 4 batting bonus points. Whitley amassed a total of 239 for 5 with Australian Jack Wood hitting an undefeated 90 and James Moorhouse 58.
When Cleethorpes replied they were given a good start with a half century from Bill Kirby. Both Jordan Cook and Tom Rollinson scored 40’s before the innings closed with 9 wickets down.
If the Cleethorpes side are to end their dismal run of form they will need to dismiss both Wood and Moorhouse cheaply. The pair have constantly been the side’s top scorers throughout this season.
James Brown leads the Whitley Hall bowling attack with 24 wickets and has been given superb support by both Ben Webster and overseas player Jack Wood who have claimed 17 wickets apiece.
Cleethorpes, already without the services of all-rounder Jordan Cook, suffered a further set- back last Saturday when Alex Osmond withdrew from the line-up at Tickhill due to illness. Although the game was washed out without a ball being bowled Cleethorpes would have been left to compete without a recognised spinner in the side.
The club are hoping that Osmond has recovered and will be able to reclaim his position in the side which will then remain the same as that which was selected for the fixture at Tickhill.
