Fury as BBC plans to send outreach teams to over 75’s who fail to pay their TV licence.

There has been a backlash after The BBC announced plans to send outreach teams to over 75’s who haven’t paid their TV licence. If an Elderly pensioner hasn’t paid £154.50 for a colour TV licence or given proof that they are exempt they will receive a knock at the door.

The BBC says that they will be support visits to help people apply for their licence and raise awareness of pension credit. But many critics have said it is insensitive and traumatic for elderly homeowners. Some will be suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia it is outrageous. The bungling Capita team would be responsible for recruiting specifically trained care field staff to visit pensioners homes.
