Man caught doing 155mph on the M180.
A man driving at 155mph on the M180 was the most blatant speeder caught by Humberside Police last year.
If he had crashed into another car the outcome would have been catastrophic. It would have taken him more than 200m to come to a stop. Police managed to catch him on camera.
The reckless driver was only one of the dozens caught putting lives at risk by smashing the speed limit putting other lives at risk. The freedom of Information requested by road safety charity Brake reveals that there was a slight improvement in drivers caught doing 100mph from the year before. Humberside Police caught 156 drivers around the area exceeding 100mph in 2018 and 166 in 2017.
The driver caught doing 155mph was the oldest at 59 of the worst offending speeders caught by Humberside Police. The youngest in the range was 24-32. They were all male as are the majority of the worst offenders around the country.
Humberside Police also caught speeders on the M62 westbound,theA165, and the A63 eastbound. On these roads, drivers were caught doing between 141mph and 130mph.
Ruth Gore from safer roads Humber said When things go wrong when travelling at those speeds, they go very wrong. Anyone travelling at those speeds would be sent to court, which tends to result in a hefty fine and a ban.
But this year Police have already caught a Porshe 911 driver who was caught going at 156mph on the M180 near Brigg.
